How to spot a reliable tipster

3 min read · Intermediate · Updated 2026-10-21

In one sentence
A reliable tipster logs picks before kick-off, shows odds, and publishes losses.

There are thousands of tipsters online. Most show only their wins. A short set of questions separates the serious ones from the rest.

The checklist
  • Publishes the tip before kick-off, with a timestamp, and does not edit it afterwards.
  • Shows the odds taken and not only the hit rate.
  • Publishes every result, losses included.
  • Has enough bets to judge: hundreds, not ten.
  • Measures profit in units and ROI, not in "wins".
  • Explains why, with numbers, and not only which pick.
  • Talks in probabilities and risk and does not promise certainty.
If a tipster fails more than two of these, treat the results with caution.

Red flags

  • "Sure thing", "guaranteed" or "fixed match". Nobody can guarantee a result.
  • Hit rates without odds, or results that appear only when he wins.
  • Paid subscriptions with no history you can check.
  • Pressure to stake more or to chase a loss.
  • Tips that are deleted or changed after the match ends.

What we do

We log every tip before kick-off with odds and probability, and publish every result, wins and losses, on the performance page. Each tip's reasoning has numbers, and the method is described in About.

Nobody promises a profit. If betting stops being fun, see the responsible gambling page. 18+ only.

Check your understanding

1. Which is a red flag?
Nobody can guarantee a result.
2. Besides the hit rate, what must be shown?
A hit rate without odds does not say whether there is profit.

18+ only. Educational information, not betting or financial advice.
